Austin Healey Sprite Mk11 chassis number HAN7 L25853, manufactured at Abingdon in 1962 with the later 1098 engine and disc brakes. Finished in Old English White this Sprite was destined for the export market, and was exported to the USA in the year of manufacture. The car returned home in 1995 and was the subject of an extensive bare metal restoration and conversion to right hand drive.
This was carried out by a well known specialist in Scotland.
No rust was found and hence no body or chassis parts were replaced as this Sprite had spent its life in the sunshine state of California.
Registered in the UK in 1998 ESJ284 has had 2 previous owners, the 2rd owner being a very well respected UK collector and expert on early Sprites.
This car is of course road tax free and can be insured fuly comprehensively for around £100 per year (with a mileage limit of 5000). ESJ284 has just undergone a minor re-commissioning and engine service and set up, again no structural work was required.
The cabin has had some cosmetic work, mainly gauges, (all work) and also 4 new tyres.
The A series engine and gearbox pull strongly through all the gears was built by MOSS and the head changed to run on unleaded, so no additive required.
This car is a delight to drive, look at and own, with a little work in the engine bay, (detailing) she will do well at shows.
Parts availability on these cars is great, (I have run a Mk3 every day for 3 years and so far fitted a starter motor at £35).
